Reiki in the Hospital - Solaris Care Cancer Support Centre
Since 2001, the Institute has been operating a free Reiki service at the Solaris Care Cancer Support Center (formally - Brownes Dairy Support Center for Cancer and Luekaemia), situated within Sir Charles Gairdner Hospital (Block E, Ground Floor) Hospital Ave, NEDLANDS, WESTERN AUSTRALIA.
Advanced Practitioners are involved in treating Cancer Patients. The Center currently has approval to conduct research and is actively seeking funding to begin a pilot study.
Presently the center is researching the effect of all the complementary therapies (listed below) on symptom control and quality of life outcomes in a descriptive study done in conjunction with Edith Cowan University.
Headed by Dr. David Joske (Left), Director and Head of Department of Haematology and co-ordinated by David Oliver (Right), the clinic has been successfully offering a unique and much loved service. In addition to Reiki, the Cancer Support Center also offers the following natural therapies:
- Pranic Healing

Qualitative recording of the effects of Reiki on the Cancer patients are now being undertaken by several parties and will assist greatly in exploring the benefits associated with Reiki for Western Medicine.
The Reiki Clinic operates every Thursday morning from 9:30am to 12:30pm.
Treatments are for 1 hour and are facilitated by experienced and qualified Practitioners from The International Institute for Reiki Training.
Bookings are by appointment and are on a donation basis. To make a booking at either of these clinics, telephone the Perth Cancer Support Centre on: (08) 9346 7630 or visit: www.solariscare.com.au
